Our story began with the establishment of Maqta Gateway in 2016. Since then we have taken our vision of digitising trade to new heights through our advanced products and services.

Maqta  Gateway dates back five decades. The bridge opened up a clear route of transportation in and out of Abu Dhabi, which paved the way for business collaborations and possibilities with other emirates and the rest of the world. The name, Maqta  Gateway, evolved from its symbol of connectivity.
2012

Abu Dhabi Ports is one of the most technologically advanced ports in the world. In 2012 it became home to one of the first ever semi-automated container ports in the region and this advancement instigated a Port Community System study project. Throughout the course of the study, Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group), signed a memorandum of understanding with several strategic partners. These studies and partnerships ignited Abu Dhabi’s Port Community System (PCS). Following the official signing in 2012 the PCS system was fully developed and named "mPCS", where the ‘M’ standing for Maqta and referring to the Maqta bridge that established the main path of trade in and out of Abu Dhabi.

Realising the importance of an accessible business facility for stakeholders and automating its port services, Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group) completed an in-depth analysis to develop its digital vision, while acknowledging the importance of a Port Community  System (PCS). This led to the idea of offering an in-house developed PCS and thus,  Maqta  PCS was born.  
The decision to develop the project internally would ultimately protect Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group) intellectual property, ensuring its sustainability at the lowest possible cost and facilitate in training national cadre ready for global advancement and expansion of digitalised trade.
2014

The official launch of the Maqta  PCS Development Project took place under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza Bin  Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi. Several high-level  government officials and key  industry professionals came together to witness the signing of the memorandums of understanding  (MoU’s) between Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group) and partner organisations.
These organisations included the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW), Abu Dhabi Airports, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority  (ADFCA), Abu Dhabi Customs Administration (ADCA), Etihad Rail and Abu Dhabi Terminals  (ADT). 
This landmark signing made Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group) the first member in the GCC region to be recognised by the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA) for its vision and innovation.  
Maqta  Gateway then signed a MoU with Abu Dhabi Customs to collaborate and streamline processes at Khalifa Port.
2015

Celebrating the first milestone of implementation of  the Maqta  Port Community System (mPCS) all message transactions amongst container operations stakeholders, port users and the port authority were converted from traditional hard copies to electronic messaging. This resulted in highly favourable and significant changes in the efficiency of information-on-information exchange and business execution between Abu Dhabi Customs, Abu Dhabi Terminals and Abu Dhabi Ports now AD Ports Group. Maqta  Gateway then expanded further by offering its vessel management services from Khalifa Port to all commercial ports in Abu Dhabi, marking the second successful milestone of the  mPCS  project.
2016

Trials were carried out on the Maqta  Port Community System and were implemented after the success of first phase of development.
In the same year, emphasising Abu Dhabi Ports’ (now AD Ports Group) commitment to digitalising trade, Maqta Gateway LLC was  established in March 2016 as a wholly owned subsidiary  of Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group).
Today, Maqta Port Community System is a single point of access and a source of information for almost all services provided in Khalifa Port to its  stakeholders.  
2017

Maqta  Gateway continued to develop the third stage of the  Maqta  Port Community System, now available to all customers and stakeholders of Abu Dhabi Ports (now AD Ports Group). It offered supply chain efficiency, service optimisation and digitalised all import and export operations throughout Abu Dhabi's commercial ports.
On October 3rd, 2017,  Maqta  Gateway LLC was officially inaugurated in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Ritz-Carlton, Abu Dhabi. The inauguration was in line with the prince's Vision 2030; enhancing the efficiency of the global trade services, embracing best practices and leveraging cutting-edge technology.
2018

Maqta  Gateway became the first organisation in Abu Dhabi to deploy a blockchain solution- Silsal. The solution aims to provide full cargo visibility and enhance the flow of trade and supply chain.  
Maqta  Gateway, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Customs also launched MAMAR, an online portal to facilitate trade for Abu Dhabi across seaports, land and air. MAMAR leveraged on existing features of Abu Dhabi Customs and the  Maqta Port Community System (mPCS).
2019

Maqta  Gateway strategically partnered with the telecommunications service provider, Etisalat, to enable advanced connectivity and to bring further digital enhancements to the port’s facilities. The partnership helped elevate technologies such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data within Abu Dhabi Ports now AD Ports Group. This set the scene for a new realm of digital transformation in the UAE’S transport and logistics sectors.  
In addition, the Margo logistics platform was launched, completing the customs services interface in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Customs and the activation of its maritime side.
2020
Our History
Historical landmarks
Abu Dhabi Ports now AD Ports Group acquired  ZonesCorp and launched its Industrial Zones Services through a Single Window platform. The goal of the collaboration was to eliminate the need for customers to visit  ZonesCorp  Service Centers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to carry out processes and transactions and to carry out business processes and transactions that lead to a stronger and broader database from combining both services.  
Maqta Gateway was officially recognised as the national digital window for marine trade by the Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport during this year.
