Abu Dhabi Ports organizes Shipping Agents Forum, Introducing Maqta Gateway Project
16 February 2016Abu Dhabi, UAE –16 February, 2016:
Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone in the Emirate, organized an exclusive educational and networking event for shipping agents. The event was held in association with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) on February 7 at Abu Dhabi Ports headquarters auditorium. The representatives of Abu Dhabi Ports and ICS presented the latest trends and opportunities in the maritime industry.
An introduction to Maqta Gateway, the new port community system developed by Abu Dhabi Ports, was the main topic at the forum attended by around 90 people. Maqta Gateway is set to bring efficiency, speed and cost saving to Abu Dhabi Ports’ customers in their day-to-day business. Abu Dhabi Ports was receiving many enquiries about this system since the commencement of its initial operations was announced in December 2015. The forum was a key opportunity to provide the shipping agents with useful information and insights about this port community system.
Maqta Gateway also launched its training programme for shipping agents who will be the early users of the system at the event. Mandatory training sessions and workshops will be scheduled for the shipping agents to guide them on operating the system.
The ICS, based in London, is primarily a provider of training and certification for the shipping community. The institute is actively promoting networking and discussion events on topics that interest the maritime community.
